St Ives Penzance

St Ives Penzance was a successful blog and directory that focused on supporting quality, independent Cornish businesses and sharing them with holidaymakers and locals alike.

The brand was created by me in 2017 to support my clients and other local businesses, whilst helping me to develop my own digital marketing, web management and social media skills.

Marketing, SEO Specialist - St Ives Penzance, Cornwall.

Why St Ives and Penzance?

Growing up in Newlyn, less than two miles from Penzance, weekends were spent swimming at Jubilee Pool, shopping on Market Jew Street, or playing in the arcade. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning after a long trip, as you travel along the A30 towards the town you’re greeted by the sight of St Michael’s Mount peeking through the trees, and you know you’ve arrived.

Perhaps best known by Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic opera The Pirates of Penzance, the town is nestled in Mount’s Bay, and overlooks St Michael’s Mount. Sitting on the south coast of Cornwall, the bay remains sheltered and mild, a fact illustrated perfectly by the town’s abundance of palm trees and sub-tropical plants.

As a child, I spent many summers on Porthminster beach in St Ives; swimming, sunbathing and eating ice cream with school friends, so it will always have a special place in my heart. The smell of pasties and the sound and seagulls always bring back wonderful memories.

It’s one of the most popular seaside resorts in Cornwall, and part of its appeal lies in the historic charm of its winding cobbled streets that are known to locals as the ‘Downalong’. The old quarters of St Ives, found just behind the 14th century Sloop Inn, are always bustling and lively, packed with independent boutiques and cosy cafés.
